If we define plantar fasciitis in a colloquial way, we would say that it is that pain in the sole of the foot that appears in the morning when you get up and does not let you walk until you start to move a little. Actually what happens is that the plantar fascia is stretched and this makes the pain decrease.
Fascia is the fibrous tissue on the sole of the foot that connects the heel to the toes. It is responsible for maintaining the proper plantar arch, that is, every time we walk the plantar fascia stretches and shortens with each step. It works as a cushion for the plantar arch.
Inflammation of the fascia is the cause of intense pain in the heel and in the area that contacts the calcaneus.
