4 tips for taking care of your feet against cold and humidity

Foot & ankle specialists

It is very likely that in winter the feeling of cold will settle on your extremities. The feet are, surely, the part of the body that copes worst with low temperatures. Since the cold hinders the peripheral circulation, that is, the one that reaches the extremities, our feet and hands feel numb and with less sensitivity. That is why we must take extreme care of the feet and observe them if we feel any itchy feet or strange sensations.

So that you can manage the health and care of your feet correctly, here are some tips to have healthy feet in winter:

1. Keep your feet clean and dry. The humid condition facilitates the proliferation of fungi. Dry them well after showering before putting on your socks.

2. Use appropriate footwear that does not oppress the feet and that allows proper circulation. It will help prevent the feeling of numbness and "sleepy feet".

3. In the case of practicing a winter sport, it is advisable to take even more care of the type of footwear, especially if you suffer from athlete's foot in winter.

4. Avoid synthetic footwear that does not allow you to perspire. The accumulation of sweat on the foot favors the growth of microorganisms that cause bad odor.
