What are the most frequent foot pathologies due to cold?

Foot & ankle specialists

With low temperatures, footwear must be thicker and more closed, something that affects the incidence of ingrown nails. In summer, as we bare our feet and our toes are exposed, it is not so frequent.

Papillomas derived from a deficiency of the immune system are also common in winter, in children and adolescents, since they are growing and this requires an extra effort to defend themselves against diseases.

What habits do we usually have that are not very beneficial for the feet?

Sudden changes in temperature, heating and especially braziers are causes of numerous lower limb pathologies such as chilblains, ulcers, etc.

On the other hand, the use of hiking boots usually cause "black nails" since when descending or walking through rustic terrain, the nails are hit with shoes that are usually hard, thus causing subungual bruises.

We must avoid exposing our feet to high temperatures caused by braziers, fireplaces, heaters, which can burn the soles of our shoes and the skin without realizing it. This recommendation is especially important for diabetic patients or those with vascular problems.
