Puede ser posible la realización del autocuidado en casa, siempre y cuando no exista infección y con las pautas y recomendaciones, realizadas por el podólogo, en cuanto al corte de las uñas, el instrumental empleado y la metodología.
En esta misma línea, si ya ha aparecido la patología, estos pacientes deberían acudir a un podólogo, que le indique cuál es el plan de tratamiento a seguir. Quizá pueda indicarle esos autocuidados o crea conveniente instaurar algún otro tratamiento.
