The most common symptom is cracked, flaking, and shedding skin between the toes or on the sides of the foot. Other symptoms can include:

-Red and itchy skin

-Burning or stinging

Blisters that ooze (leak) or crust over

If the fungus spreads to the nails, they can become discolored, thick, and even shed.

Athlete's foot can occur at the same time as other fungal or yeast skin infections such as dermatophytosis and jock itch.
