This condition is very common nowadays and it is usually cause from a small bone which forms on the heel. It is causing us pain and it is preventing us to do our everyday activities.

However you can recover, but you should be patient and follow the instruction that we are going to say below.

Why do we get them?

According to the orthopedic surgeons 1 in 4 people will experience a heel spur sometimes in their life. That means that the probability for experiencing this is very high for every person. It is caused from the formation of a small spiny bone on the right side on the heel.

But the question is why it is forming? Usually, due to the age. However this can happen even to younger people if they spend a lot of time on their feet. Another factor for this is also if you are a little overweighted.
There is also another case when the people have a really elastic Achilles tendon and in this situation it may be hard to detect it. Your risk for this condition may be higher or lower, it depends from the attributes of your foot and your anatomy.

  • The pain is in specific point in the heel and you can identify it easily.
  • If your shoes are not comfortable, they can make pressure on the bone spur and the place can get red and inflamed, causing you pain.

The ideal exercises to treat a heel spur

Floor exercise

You should follow the instructions from your doctor and orthopedist and also do the following exercise for treating heel spurs. Pay attention not to overdo it.
It is very easy. Sit on a couch or a chair, place a towel on the floor in front of you and then try to catch it with your toes. It is helpful for regaining mobility in your foot and lowering the pain. You should do this exercise 3 times in the day.

Basic stretches

You should lean over the edge of a table and then start pretending that you’re pushing against it. One of the legs is bent, and the other is stretching the heel area. This should be done at least 5 minutes, two times during the day.

Rolling a water bottle

It is simple and relaxing. Fill a bottle with water and then put it in the freezer in order to freeze. After that put it on the floor on a towel, and with the foot with heel spur roll the bottle back and forth. Do this for minimum 5 minutes, 3 times in the day.

All of these exercises are very reliable. Also you can find some splints for treating the heel spurs—there are some in the drug stores. You will be better with time, but in some cases a surgery is needed. You need to be patient and take care for yourself.
