Home care to relieve heel pain

The following measures can help alleviate heel pain:

-Use crutches to remove weight on the feet.

- Rest as much as possible for at least a week.

-Apply ice to the pain area. Do this at least twice a day for 10 to 15 minutes and more often in the first two days.

-Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain.

-Use footwear with good support and that fits well.

-Use heel pads, felt pad in the heel area or an insole for the shoe.

-Wear night splints.

We may recommend other treatments, depending on the cause of the heel pain.
